We're All Redneck to Someone
- Years ago after a late night of
playing, drinking beer, and
philosophizing I happened to call
one of my buddies a "Redneck." My
friend Drew interjected:
"Everybody's a redneck to somebody."
That always stuck in my head and
about 10 years later I decided to
write a song about it. To me
"Redneck" is a relative term and
doesn't have to be taken with
offense. I'm one to somebody. And
No, I'm not a country singer. But,
music is music and this one HAD to
be a country song!

Oops I did it again! - Britney
can't have all the fun! For the
record: I've never played with
anyone's heart. I was ALWAYS
serious... Probably too serious.
But, hey, that's my problem.

Speed
Kills Johnny!(A
Neditorial) - A bunch of thoughts
all come together on the page. Sometimes
they all fit together. Truth really is
stranger than fiction.

Little Martha
- One of my favorite songs by Duane
Allman (Let's hear it for Georgia
guitar players!) I'll keep working
on this one. The callous on the
middle finger of my right hand just
fell off... ouch!
I'll never forget
being 17 years old with my Mother's
car in Macon GA. on a high school
baseball trip. I was the only kid
there with a car. So, about 10 guys
piled into that Datsun wagon and we
went to the Rose Hill cemetery. I
wanted to find Duane's gravesite. We
never did. And I still haven't
visited it. I think I need to go do
that. And I'll find Martha's too.

String
of Purls - Another poem from
several years ago... I used to live
in a house that had a stream
wandering through the back yard. I
Often write first thing in the
morning when my head hasn't really
gotten up yet. This is what
happens...

Venus
- This
is a song that I actually dreamt.
No, seriously. I was in my friend
Will's antique store one day (about
15 years ago) and Boticelli's "Birth
of Venus" was hanging there on the
wall. I don't know why it struck me.
I'd seen the painting before. But,
that night I woke up around 2am with
this song playing in my head. I
jumped up and ran to my studio. I
recorded the first verse and chorus
(guitar and vocals.) I've never done
anything like that before OR since.
The next day I finished the rest of
the verses...
